Futurist Manifesto
I Believe that the culture of
our time involves ignorance, selfishness, violence and greed, however it also
offers diversity, understanding and boldness. The people of today ignore the
problems of the world to feed their obsession with social media. They use the
media to promote their self-esteem and image under the example of celebrity
figures who claim to be advocates of the planet’s healing. While we use
technology to provide advances that contribute to that healing, we also depend
on it as a lifeline.
Today’s architecture is
essentially a band-aid designed with ecological and technological advances that
are meant to help us repair the damage that we have done to our home. This
advanced type of architecture is quite costly, leaving most of these great ideas
unbuilt. These great ideas are the solution to our problems, however we lean
towards type of architecture that saves us money. We have become a greedy
species, greedy for food, money, love, power, knowledge and status. These
negative qualities come with positive ones which cannot be ignored.
Our culture has become more
diverse and understanding with our acceptance of love, race and personal style.
There is also the factor of boldness, we have stretched our minds beyond the
horizons we once knew, to accomplish the transformation of theories into
realities. Despite our downfalls we have maintained this ability to think
outside the box. However has we step toward the future we step further away
from the past, forgetting where we came from and all that we learned. We have
experienced and loss of history, the loss of culture and the loss of
self-awareness. We have lost the ability to understand that all things and
everything is connected.
